Understanding Your gammaCore Device
Discover the essentials of gammaCore, including device best practices and important considerations to support your treatment journey.
Getting Started With Your Device
- Your gammaCore device will come with a set number of therapy days based on your prescription.
- Your consecutive treatment days will start when the device is turned on.
- When turned on, the display will rotate between months and days of therapy remaining, and the number of stimulations available in a 24-hour period.
Months and Days of Therapy
- The calendar icon indicates the remaining months and days of therapy.
- If the number above the calendar is not flashing, it indicates the remaining months of therapy.
- A flashing number on the gammaCore display indicates the number of therapy days remaining. The number will flash twice.
- To ensure uninterrupted therapy, request a refill when your device says you have 21 days left.
Stimulations Remaining
- The 24 icon on your device shows the number of stimulations remaining within a 24-hour period.
- The device allows for a total of 30 stimulations (24, plus a few extra in case you aren't able to complete a session).
Intensity Level
- The wave icon on your device reflects the level of stimulation intensity.
- The device has a wide range of intensity levels from 1 to 40, with most patients averaging between 15 and 25.
- A higher intensity level doesn't necessarily mean better results; treatment should not be painful.
- Your stimulation intensity may vary between uses, depending on your needs and comfort level.
How Do I Use gammaCore?
Follow these 3 simple steps to optimize each treatment session.
Step 1
Use 2 fingers to locate your pulse on either side of your neck. The vagus nerve is located in the same area.
Step 2
Remove the cap. Apply a pea-sized amount of the provided gel to each stimulation surface (other gels will not work). Turn on gammaCore.
Step 3
Place gammaCore over the treatment location. Increase the stimulation intensity until you notice slight muscle contractions at the corner of your mouth. Many users stay between 15-25.

Use Enough Gel
gammaCore will not work without gel, so be sure to apply enough to both stimulation surfaces; a pea-sized amount will work. Use only the conductive gels provided. If you run out or need more, give us a call at 888-903-2673 for assistance.
Find the Right Intensity Level
Using the right intensity level is key. With the device in the correct treatment location, slowly increase the intensity until you feel a downward pull on your lip. Many people experience this at an intensity level between 15 and 25.
Placement, Placement, Placement
If you don’t feel the lip pull, try making minor adjustments to the placement on your neck. Use a mirror to help you if needed. Apply more gel to the stimulation surface if it has spread too thin while repositioning.
Treat Early and Follow the Directions
For the best chance of acute pain relief, use gammaCore at the first sign of pain and deliver additional stimulations as needed. Remember, you can use up to 24 stimulations a day, plus a few extra just in case you don't get through a session.
Use Consistently and Be Patient
Improvement continues over time; you may need to use gammaCore several times before you get the full benefit. It's safe to use every day, multiple times a day. If you need further assistance, please book a training with our dedicated Customer Experience team.
How to Clean and Disinfect gammaCore
Please follow the steps below to clean gammaCore and prepare to reuse it.
- Wipe the surface of the stimulation heads with a recommended disinfectant.*
- Use a wet wipe or cloth with water to remove the disinfectant from the device to help avoid adverse reactions.
- Allow the device to air dry, or use a clean, lint-free wipe.
